iTouch Surface Acoustic Wave Touch Technology


With more than 20 years of IntelliTouch technical and manufacturing expertise, The standards for surface acoustic wave (SAW) touch solutions with the introduction of iTouch technology has been raised. A proprietary innovation, iTouch technology moves all of the touch detection hardware to the backside of the touchscreen. The result is a completely flat touch surface with zero-bezel after integration of the touchscreen into a monitor, touchcomputer, or other electronic device.
Although different than conventional surface acoustic wave technologies, iTouch touchscreen technology delivers the same robust performance as the original IntelliTouch technology. With no moving parts to wear out, touch response is always fast, accurate, and drift-free using a finger, gloved hand, or soft stylus. Pure glass construction allows high light transmission without compromising durability or functionality.

Expected Life Performance

No known wear-out mechanism, as there are no layers, coatings, or moving parts. Surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology has been operationally tested to more than 50 million touches in one location without failure, using a stylus similar to a finger.

Sealing

iTouch Plus touchscreen has been successfully integrated by integrators to meet NEMA 3/3R/5/12/12K/13, IPX1 standards.

Surface durability is that of glass, Mohs' hardness rating of 6.5.

  • Chemical resistance: The active area of the touchscreen is resistant to all chemicals that do not affect glass, such as:
    • Acetone
    • Toluene
    • Methyl ethyl ketone
    • Isopropyl alcohol
    • Methyl alcohol
    • Ethyl acetate
    • Ammonia-based glass cleaners
    • Gasoline
    • Kerosene
    • Vinegar

Positional Accuracy

Less than ± 2.5mm and typically much better when touchscreen and controller are calibrated to a display image.

6.19 points per mm typical.
