The touchscreen interface controls the transfer of touch data from the computer to the touchscreen and vice versa, and is in addition to the standard monitor video and power cables.

• Serial Interface: A general-purpose interface, where one cable connects the touchscreen to an available COM port. All modern monitors have internal controllers (inside the monitor), with a female DB9 (9 pin D-shaped) touch output connector. The connection to the male-pinned COM port is made by a standard straight-through male-to-female DB9 cable.
• USB Interface: Short for Universal Serial Bus, an interface that supports Plug-and-Play installation and hot plugging. One cable connects the touchscreen to an available USB port.
• Dual Serial/USB (Combo) Interface: Provides both serial and USB interfaces-one or the other should be used, not both.
