Touchscreen Interface Options
The touchscreen interface controls the transfer of touch data from the computer to the touchscreen and vice versa, and is in addition to the standard monitor video and power cables.
- Serial Interface: A general-purpose interface, where one cable connects the touchscreen to an available COM port. All modern monitors have internal controllers (inside the monitor), with a female DB9 (9 pin D-shaped) touch output connector. The connection to the male-pinned COM port is made by a standard straight-through male-to-female DB9 cable.
- USB Interface: Short for Universal Serial Bus, an interface that supports Plug-and-Play installation and hot plugging. One cable connects the touchscreen to an available USB port.
- Dual Serial/USB (Combo) Interface: Provides both serial and USB interfaces-one or the other should be used, not both.
